We stayed here only because we could not get into our usual campground. This was a typical KOA, expensive, crowded and full of families and groups. The sole purpose is convince to King's Dominion and in that respect it is perfect. For those of us not going to the park it is to be avoided. It was expensive even with a discount and upon check in I was informed that cable was not included at my site. The young girls checking me in seemed inexperienced, did not explain anything about the campground and later that evening I saw my campsite listed on the late night check in board as being available. We did not use any of the bath house facilities which was probably a good thing as there were only two bath houses for the entire campground and numerous Port a potties. The one positive was the maintenance staff. They were everywhere, cleaning up and constantly emptying the trash cans. Very friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed staying, the cabin was just the right size for us. Even my kids enjoyed it, the location was perfect nice and quiet. We will return when we get the chance too!
Now IF they would have done something about it or at the VERY least discounted our stay, the review would have been better. I stand by my review of this incident, because they could have handled the situation better.
We used to love to stay at the campground cabins when we visited Kings Dominion. However this stay we were miserable. Our cabin "C2" apparently had a hive of bees on one end and wasps on the other.
We will stay in a hotel next time, but this makes me sad, because it was supposed to be a wonderful experience for my family. God knows I paid enough for it!!!
These little b***ards had a gang war in the middle of the night both nights we stayed. My husband was the victim of a driveby stinging. It was ridiculous!
Upon check in there were insect carcasses, all over the room. Should have been the first sign.
My visit at camp wilderness was great the staff showed awesome hospitality. Everything was as our disposal and they accommodate us every well. It was a Bless day and my family and i had an awesome time. Thank you
When we complained, it fell on deaf ears as the cashiers at the front were hardly apologetic. I am severealy allergic to stings. I could have died if I were stung. If my kids were stung, it would have been way worse.
My husband's sting wound has swollen his entire side and is terribly painful. We killed most of the "gang members" in the middle of the night, but it made for a horrible stay.
Please do better for the next family Camp Wilderness!!! We are greatly disappointed!
We rented a cabin for a family of 5. The cabin is very spacious with master bedroom downstairs and a loft for kids upstairs. There are 2 full bathrooms, which is extra nice. The cabins are relatively new and nice inside. My only real complaint is the kitchen. It is very small. It only has a microwave and small "dorm" style refrigerator. It also only has 2 chairs and a small bar table to eat at. Making any kind of meal for a family is really, really difficult. There is an nice picnic table and concrete patio outside to use. For us, however, the first night it was 90+ degrees and very sunny and the second night it was raining, so we had to eat inside. We did have some issues with ants, but it was just a minor annoyance. There is a nice shuttle that takes you to the park, which is only a mile a way. The staff was very friendly and helpful. If we come back to KD, then we will stay here again.
